Ighor Luis Alvim Horta, born on June 4, 1992, in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil, discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at the age of 13. His journey began at the Paulo Alves Academy, located near his neighborhood, where he trained under the guidance of coach Paulo Pianta.
As Ighor's passion and dedication to competitive jiu-jitsu grew, he sought out a more ambitious and accomplished training group to elevate his skills. Under the mentorship of coach Ricardo Marques, Ighor progressed through the colored belts, ultimately achieving his black belt in 2017.
In 2019, Ighor took a significant leap in his career by relocating to Europe, where he shared his expertise as an instructor at various gyms across the United Kingdom. Eventually, he set his sights on the United States, establishing himself in Portland, Oregon, and continuing to inspire the next generation of jiu-jitsu practitioners.
With over eight years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and a lifelong foundation in wrestling, Charlie brings a wealth of experience and passion to the mat. Initially diving into BJJ with MMA aspirations, he quickly discovered a deep love for grappling and has devoted himself to mastering the art ever since. As a coach, Charlie thrives on witnessing his students grow in confidence and finds immense joy in their excitement when they achieve new breakthroughs.
Maria Ruffatto, a highly skilled Jiu-Jitsu athlete, has achieved the prestigious rank of black belt under the tutelage of Ighor Horta. She initially captured international attention as a colored belt by claiming significant titles in the IBJJF. Over time, Ruffatto solidified her reputation as one of the sport's elite competitors, making her mark on the professional circuit with a breakout performance at ADCC.
Roma began her Jiu Jitsu journey in 2012 under Matt Powers in Missoula, MT. After meeting her now-husband and fellow black belt, Andrew, the couple relocated to Oregon to build a new chapter together. While in Eugene, Roma attended law school and pursued a professional MMA career, training under Ben Baxter at Performance Martial Arts. Alongside MMA, she showcased her skills in numerous IBJJF and local Jiu Jitsu tournaments, as well as competing in SUG. In 2022,
